It's Kya Kya KYAN!ME...!!

I want to dedicate this post to those who couldn't make it to the convention. :)

Here's a first and biggest anime event happening in our very own city!
(like, finally.)

KYAN!ME is co-organised by the Sarawak-Japan Friendship Club to educate, introduce and promote the Japanese culture to locals, mainly the love for ACG (Anime, comic & games).

Exhibitions were held from the 8th to 10th. (actually was on-going until the 13th, Sunday) which range from figurines showcase, yukata/kimono workshop, souvenirs booth, iGamer booth, comics and so on. The highlight of the figurines was the Gundams (it's a center piece for all its glory).

The rest of the figurines are so-so. Disappointing actually. Coz there's not a single Playart. You know, the usual 7-8 inches figurines. The larger ones aside from Gundam were just trading figures that stood approx only 4-5 inches. ;(

The Anime and Toys Convention that I went to back in year 2008 had more variety. Well, these aren't Playarts but they're still tall and difficult to take eyes off of them. Oh well, dahlah nama TOYs Convention so it gotta had more I supposed.

Why no Final Fantasy Playart huh? :( I bet more people would've cramped around it and elbowing each other that I will not have space for myself to take pictures.

Keroro... Gundam? I wonder if it's really made that way or was it that Keroro kinda toppled sideways.

iGamer booth.

Friday, 11th June was the start of the main and most anticipated event - Cosplay!
Other events such as Anime Race, Street Fighter(??), Japanese language, bento making and ramen eating were also held from morning till early evening all through the 3 days. I missed out on bento making! X<

~DAY 1~

I was so so grateful that Fadly agreed to accompany me to watch it coz I really didn't want to watch it alone. Then again, I do need someone to help me take pictures of me with the cosplayers. :p What, he get to take pictures with them too. Also met up with Andrew and Jun there as their campus was just across the street.

p/s: Camera ain't got anti-shake. I wished I had the kind of camera equipped with huge lens those professional photographers were flanking.

Launching of grand opening ceremony starting with traditional 'Sakura dance'.

Group dance. Don't know where these ladies are from.
Their dance wasn't timed really well. Albeit I have to credit them for being able to walk and spin around in tight kimono.

Solo performance.

Then, a literal "kick start" of Cosplay.
That's Mayor James Chan commencing the start of cosplay by kicking the football into the goalie. They made it like sorta in conjunction with the FIFA 2010.

=.="

Anyway...

Cosplayers coming out from backstage.

And pikachu took the football.

Left - Taichou Hitsugaya of BLEACH.
Right - Noctis Lucis Caelum of Final Fantasy versus XIII.

???
Tak tau lah siapa. Looks like Lacus Clyne of Gundam but I don't think she is.
Megurine Luka of Vocaloid??
Anya Alstriem of Code Geass??
I. Don't. Know.

Left - Maka of Soul Eater.
Center - Death the kid of Soul Eater.
Right - Zero Kiryuu of Vampire Knight.

Mio Akiyama of K-ON!. Very nice. I want her hat. XD

Don't know all these people.
But after making an effort to Google...
Left - Outfit looks like from Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Center - Ciel Phantomhive of Kuroshitsuji, maybe?
Right - Raimei Shimizu of Nabari no Ou.

Group photo.

End of cosplays.

Start of performances.

The boys did "Sorry Sorry" dance by Super Junior.
I don't have my own copy of the video clip with me at the moment.
Fadly forgot to pass it to me. So watch it here;

Next is band performance by our Kuching Swinburne students.
Song by High and Mighty Color, titled 'Pride'. Soundtrack of BLEACH anime.
Vocalist was pretty good. Though her voice occasionally got drowned by the strumming of the guitars coz this is a J-rock song.

If you're wondering which was my favorite cosplay...

Obviously it's FFversus XIII's Noctis.
EM Onion Head eyes of hearts
The sword is damn well done for a handmade work. Not to mention the sword looks so much like the real thing from the game. This cosplayer should've put on red-coloured contact lens though. o.O

The boys together with Noctis.

~END OF DAY 1~

~DAY 2~

Cosplays for that Day 2 were just solo performances accompanied by respective anime soundtracks. Day 1 cosplays were just the "the tip of the iceberg". Day 2 had a more diverse characters showing up.

Speaking of solo, I went to watch it alone. o_____o Fadly couldn't make it to accompany me two evenings straight lah. Anyway, halfway I did bump into Termizie.

Termizie with Yuuki Cross cosplayer.

Mascot of the day was,...this "penguin". Together with the emcees.
I don't know what anime it's from.

Anyway...

I super sharpened this pic so you could see the legs "details". XD

Solo cosplays commenced.

Source - by hidakaharu@Youtube.

Yuuki Cross of Vampire Knight swinging weapon Artemis.

Uchiha Sasuke of Naruto Shippuden.

Saya Otonashi of Blood+. Cool sword. Cool blood splatter. @.@
Her poses with the sword were excellent, making her looked more and more like
the real anime Saya.

When she did the split, I really wowed. WTH, everyone WOWed!!

This one is by far the oddest and "sweatest".
Rinali Lee of D.Gray Man. Not bad at first. Posing here and there.
Until she decided to quickly end it...

...by running towards the backstage.

-.-
EM Onion Head in the wind
Notice that she's the vocalist who performed 'Pride' in Day 1?

Other cosplays...

Top - Ky Kiske of Guilty Gear X.
Center left - Again, Hitsugaya cosplay of Bleach.
Center right - Inuyasha of Inuyasha.
Bottom left to right - Ichigo Kurosaki of Bleach, Wizard of Ragnarok Online
and Game Master(GM) of Ragnarok Online.

The most well-received cosplay was...!

DORAEMON.
Everyone cheered and applaud even before he steps out.
Right after the cue music!
An~An~An~ Tottemo daisuki. Do-Ra-E-Mo-oon~

End of cosplay.

Ichigo vs Ky Kiske??

Ky vs Sasuke vs Ichigo vs Hokage???

I'm guessing they're all Pending boys, group name - B_coz.

Me with Roxas of Kingdom Hearts.

Me with Inuyasha. o.o She(cosplayer) fell asleep??

~END OF DAY 2~

~DAY 3~

Cosplay skits were on that day, scheduled in the late afternoon. After the skits were announcement of contest/cosplaay winners, which I didn't go to watch. It was at night time and I was already damn tired. I bet the cosplayers must have felt even more worn out. Poor things... FTW. =.=

First skit was from Gintama anime.
Titled "SUKIYAKI FIGHT".

As the title suggest, the characters/cosplayers are fighting over a sukiyaki.
It wasn't bad but for those who don't watch Gintama like I do, they might not like it because it's not understandable. :( Their acting was kinda all over the place. A big mess too to the stage. Chopsticks and plates and colour papers(the salt and pepper for the sukiyaki) were all over the stage floor. But anyway, costumes were actually kinda good.

Second was Bleach skit. Pictures were very blur so there's no point I post them up here. Only TWO cosplayers were doing the skit. Again, it was Hitsugaya and... I dunno, Ichigo?? BLACK HAIRED Ichigo. The skit was just slashing and clashing of katanas. Pretty much pointless. Cosplayers were both laughing and smiling while swinging their swords. Randomly throwing themselves on the floor. Getting up and smiling. o_O

Next.
Nabari no Ou cosplay skit.
This is the true definition of a skit! I don't watch the anime but anyway the skit has audio from an episode playing. So the cosplayers were lip-syncing the dialogues.
Pretty good! They did this cool rotating posing accompanied by upbeat soundtrack before doing the skit.
(click on the picture to enlarge)

Video clip of Nabari no Ou skit.

They won first place for it!

CONGRATULATIONS! :D

Next.

Final Fantasy skit.
My most anticipated. Huhuhu~

I like anything related to FF so even though the skit was off from the FF-theme, more like random actually, I still liked it. Although kinda peng ah... Reno and Squall fighting over a picture of Tifa and Noctis trying to pull them off from each other. -_-""""

And they ended it with 'Sorry sorry' dance for another time. For a joke, it was alright. Hilarious.

Though, a skit should be related to the anime/game that cosplayers are cosplaying as.
Fighting scene was pretty good. Too bad Reno's hair fell off and it really ate away their time when the cosplayer was half skitting and half rearranging his hair back. Twice.

I was kinda hoping that there would be a female FF character. Like maybe Rinoa? Then they could skit a heart-touching love scene.

Next.
K-ON! cosplay skit.

Adorable uniforms. Their socks colour were even correctly "coordinated" according to the characters in the anime. XD

However the skit was uhh... they were using their own voices talking into microphones to dialogue.
Dialogues were uhh...inaudible.

I supposed it goes something like this.
They basically were having a teatime then Mio(second left) decided that they need to practise for their upcoming school festival performance. Yui(second right) and Ritsu(right) were both procrastinating. Then Mio had to resort by pulling Yui up to practise. -.-

It took quite a long while for them to "put on" and "tweak" their instruments.

I wonder why is that even needed?
Since they lip-synched the whole song and pretended strumming the guitars.

Song was 'Don't Say Lazy', ending song of K-ON!

One who did not pretend playing the instruments though. Ritsu cosplayer was really really really beating on the drums that the sound was ever so clear.
EM Onion Head tired
People were like all eyes on Ritsu and completed tuned out of the song.
Oh well. She was so confidently and happily drumming away. Can't help but to ignore all the little embarrassments for her.
She's a true cosplayer. Cosplayers don't give a damn about what audiences comment. They're just living out the anime character. *thumbs up*

END. Group photo!

Final Fantasy boys. RED AND BLUE. Lolness.

I can't remember who won second and third place. It's either 2nd place was Gintama. Third was FF. I think.

Congrats to all winners!

^-^
